Behind Portside
Our co-founders, Teddy Horwath and Alex Davis grew up locally on the seacoast and have both spent the better part of 20 years in the construction industry.

Co-FounderTeddy grew up on the beautiful seacoast in Newburyport, MA. He is deeply committed to serving the local community in his hometown and seacoast. He has spent the better part of 20 years in the construction industry. He started in the carpentry field learning from some of the best in the trade. Over the years he grew his skillset and knowledge, perfecting his craft and becoming one of the most elite contractors in New England. Inspired by a more creative style, he began to dive into custom cabinetry, luxury home remodels, and high-end finishes. As his vision grew so did his desire to open his own business. He opened Portside Fine Carpentry in 2016 and has been growing a thriving business serving the seacoast. As Teddy became more passionate about high-end craftsmanship, HDC Millwork came to life in 2022. With this business came even more growth and mastery of custom cabinetry. Most recently Teddy and his business partner, Alex Davis, were inspired to create a showroom based in Newburyport, MA called Rigby and Co. Teddy’s continued passion to grow and serve his community only strengthens his excellence and dedication to high-end craftmanship.

Co-FounderAlex has worked in the construction industry for over 20 years. He grew up locally on the seacoast and has a desire to serve his community. In his early years, he worked with many expert tradesmen perfecting his skillset and knowledge. His drive to learn and grow has paved the way for Alex to become one of the top contractors in New England. As his passion continued growing, so did his desire to create a business. In 2009, Alex started his own successful contracting company, where he served the seacoast community for many years. Then in 2020, he teamed up with his long-time friend, Teddy Horwath, owning and operating Portside Fine Carpentry. Together they have been an unbeatable team serving the greater seacoast and expanding their reach. A newfound interest in custom cabinetry became the foundation of HDC Millwork established in 2022. They continued to be inspired by high-end and luxury projects, leading to the creation of Rigby and Co., a beautiful showroom in downtown Newburyport. Alex’s commitment to quality work, client connection, and a passion for high-end craftmanship is what elevates his skillset, making him one of the best contractors in New England.
